The addition for this house replaces a rundown solarium and sundeck with a new main bedroom and office placed high above a carport that doubles as a covered outdoor lounge.

A ribbon of tall windows on the south western corner of the bedroom is protected from the summer sun and rain by black metal sunshades. These windows provide views across the neighbourhood toward the sea while letting in generous amounts of afternoon winter sunlight.
